swprv in "Stopping" state
Greetings, I have a server (hyper-v guest) that is 2003 server SP2. I cannot get DPM 2010 to function correctly. It seems if I kill the process svchost.exe /swprv a single backup will complete Then the swprv services is hung in a "stopping" state. Obviuosly I cannot use services.msc to stop or restart the service I have to kill the running process. Seems to happy pretty much every day. Error in event log is normally something like this: Volume Shadow Copy Service information: The COM Server with CLSID {65ee1dba-8ff4-4a58-ac1c-3470ee2f376a} and name SW_PROV cannot be started. Most likely the CPU is under heavy load. [0x80080005] I have read all the KB's and suggestions on hotfixes, missing registry keys and re-registering the .dll's which I have done numberous times. No joy. Any ideas are appreciated....Steve Lithgow

Hi Steve, Though you mentioned "registry keys and re-register dll" steps are tried, I would like to confirm if you tried to compare the following key with a working computer: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\swprv If there is any missing value, correct it and reboot to see the result. Or you can directly output the key from a working computer, backup and delete the local one and replace with the output one to see the result.TechNet Subscriber Support in forum |If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tnmff@microsoft.com.
